Hermes 90cm Silk Scarf Little Butterfly
September 20, 2020
Small, delicate, adorable, elegant, feminine… There are many more beautiful words surrounding the curvaceous Little Butterfly knot, made using Hermes 90cm silk scarf. It was named as Petit Papillon in French on Hermes scarf knotting card.
It takes a little bit of practice to make this knot look gorgeous but it is all worth it to learn how to tie an “upright” butterfly knot. You can apply the same skill if you want to make the knot with a scarf around your waist, on your bag, on your daughter’s ponytail or dress!
As opposed to Large Bow Tie (Grand Noeud Papillon) which involves the same tying steps, Little Butterfly scarf knot is suitable for ladies of any body frame, especially those that are petite. Imagine yourselves are 160cm tall and wearing a Large Bow Tie, I assure you that you will look hilarious. Nonetheless, I will create another scarf tutorial for Large Bow Tie, it may suit someone very well. We are all different and I believe we also share a common desire, that is to look aesthetically pleasing, don’t we?
Now, let’s start the Little Butterfly scarf knot tutorial. In the picture demonstration, the green arrow represents one side (side A) and pink arrow represents another side (side B) of the scarf. Steps:
- Make a Base Fold.
- Cross side B over side A.
- Pull lower segment of side A through the loop created earlier.
- Tighten the loop by pulling side B, but not too tight.
- Fold side B and pass the fold through the loop.
- Adjust and tighten the knot.

If you are simply not good at making this knot despite multiple attempts, don’t worry and don’t feel discouraged. I am here to help! I will be covering how to make a Little Butterfly with a scarf ring (using a Bulgari Key Chain) in scarf tutorial #3. That method may make your learning experience a lot more easier. Stay tuned for that!
